Amy-Dongarra

Amy Dongarra
(Mathematics)

Amy graduated from Middle Tennessee State University with a BS in Science in Psychology (minors in Health and History) and an MA in Education (Elementary Curriculum and Instruction).  She is married to Ben, and they have a young daughter, Ava, and recently welcomed new baby Bella to their family. A recent transplant to Austin, Amy has experience teaching 2nd grade, 6th grade, preschool, and elementary computer programming at schools in Kentucky, Tennessee, and Georgia.

Amy enjoys being active and outdoors with her family. Having grown up near the Smoky Mountains, she’s been hiking since she was a kid. She is excited to be teaching in a Christian school this year, helping to grow and develop the faith of her students, and hopes her students learn to be confident and persistent problem solvers.

This year, Amy will be the math instructor for 5th – 7th grade students.

Resistance is Feudal – Not your typical Wacky Wednesday lunch! – Austin Classical School | Austin, TX

From time to time, we like to have just a little more fun than normal. Today was one of those days. In addition to our monthly “Wacky Wednesday”, during which we have dads come on campus to serve pizza, our teachers wanted to incorporate a little bit of history into the mix. So why not have a Feudal Feast?

Check out the blog for more!

Photos from Austin Classical School's post

Well, that’s a wrap on our first volleyball season! We could not be more impressed with this group of girls, and their Head Coach, Jennie Loerch. What a blessing it has been this season to watch them learn the fundamentals, learn what it means to work as a team, and learn to encourage each other!

The team had a great time at the TAIAO state tournament, and they can’t wait to return next year. They were so busy signing autographs and receiving hugs from their smallest fans, that we couldn’t even snag a team photo. Way to go Coach Loerch and the ACS Mustangs!!

“As classical, Christian educators, how we attend to the world around ourselves and similarly, how we train students to attend to the world around themselves, is equally important.”

Check out our latest blog post to hear from our Head of School, Dave Sikkema, as he turns our thoughts back to the idea of attention, and what that has to do with the beautiful world of classical, Christian education.
